Hyderabad: Deputy Chief Minister Bhatti Vikramarka on Monday said the Congress-led Praja Government had disbursed ₹9,000 crore under the Rythu Bharosa scheme in just nine days, calling it a historic first in the state’s history. He was addressing party leaders at Gandhi Bhavan.
According to Bhatti, the assistance was delivered between June 16 and 24, covering 1,49,39,111 acres of agricultural land. He said the programme marks the first instance in which such a large volume of aid has been released within such a short timeframe in Telangana.
The Deputy CM said the scheme, part of the Indiramma model of governance, increased per-acre support from ₹10,000 to ₹12,000. Unlike previous versions that limited benefits to farmers owning 5 to 10 acres, the current programme covers all cultivable land without restrictions.
He listed ongoing welfare measures under the Congress government, including free bus travel for women, ₹2 lakh farm loan waivers, free electricity for agricultural use, subsidised LPG cylinders, and low-cost rice distribution to poor families.
Bhatti said the disbursement reflected the commitment of the Indiramma Praja Government to farmer welfare. He directed mandal-level Congress committees to ensure the effort receives wide visibility and called for grand celebrations at mandal centres across the state on June 24, the final day of the payout.
He added that public meetings would be held that day at Rythu Vedikas across the state. Simultaneously, the Chief Minister and cabinet ministers will address farmers from the Rajiv Gandhi statue near the Secretariat.
PCC president Mahesh Kumar Goud, AICC in-charge Meenakshi Natarajan, AICC secretary Challa Vamsichand Reddy and other Congress leaders were present at the meeting.
