Hyderabad: BRS leader T Harish Rao accused the Congress government of humiliating former Home Minister and Maheshwaram MLA Sabitha Indra Reddy during a state-run ration card distribution event held Tuesday in Maheshwaram constituency.
Harish Rao condemned the treatment of Sabitha by Congress workers and officials, claiming she was denied protocol on stage while party activists raised slogans against her. He called the incident disgraceful, particularly as it involved a woman legislator who had held a senior cabinet post.
“Calling it ‘Indiramma Rajyam’ while insulting a woman MLA like this is shameful,” he said, denouncing the conduct of both Congress leaders and the police. He alleged that police stood by while Congress cadres threatened Sabitha and acted like “street rowdies.”

He demanded immediate disciplinary action against police personnel who behaved “rudely and inappropriately” with the former minister. “Is questioning the government on ration card distribution Sabitha’s fault?” he asked.
Holding Chief Minister Revanth Reddy, who also serves as Home Minister, accountable for the incident, Harish Rao demanded an apology from him. He warned that the BRS would not be silenced by “Congress mobs or intimidation tactics.”
In a tweet, he said the party would continue to question the Congress government daily and expose its failures publicly.
