Hyderabad: Farmers in Rangareddy district have protested after Rythu Bharosa funds were not credited in multiple mandals. Payments were reportedly stopped for farmers in at least nine mandals, triggering widespread discontent.
Former minister Sabitha Indra Reddy, along with former MLA and Rangareddy district BRS president Manchireddy Kishan Reddy, led a delegation of affected farmers to Agriculture Minister Tummala Nageshwar Rao. A formal representation was submitted, demanding immediate credit of pending funds into the farmers’ accounts.
The affected mandals include Maheshwaram, Balapur, Ibrahimpatnam, Abdullapurmet, Hayathnagar, Rajendranagar, and Shamshabad. Farmers in these areas have accused the Congress government of withdrawing the scheme without explanation.
Sabitha Indra Reddy questioned the rationale behind the exclusion of farmers from these mandals, many of whom cultivate vegetables and leafy greens around Hyderabad due to better market access and quick turnaround crops. She said even during previous TDP and Congress tenures, farmers in city outskirts were given support.
Protests have already begun in farmlands across the affected regions. Farmers voiced anger over the Congress-led government’s decision and said they are prepared to escalate the agitation. Sabitha Indra Reddy backed the demonstrations and warned that the BRS would launch a sustained agitation if the scheme is not restored for the excluded farmers.
She accused the Congress of dismantling KCR’s Rythu Bandhu initiative, calling the suspension of payments a deliberate move against farmers in the region.
