Hyderabad: Senior IAS officer Sandeep Kumar Sultania has been appointed the new finance chief secretary of Telangana. The government issued orders early Tuesday morning, signed off by Chief Secretary K. Ramakrishna Rao himself.
Sultania is expected to take charge either later this evening or by Wednesday morning, depending on the final briefing and internal formalities. The change follows a shuffle at the very top—Ramakrishna Rao, who had held the post since the formation of the state, was recently elevated to Chief Secretary after the retirement of Santhi Kumari.
That left the finance top seat wide open. No delay from the new CS. Rao signed off on Sultania’s appointment barely days after assuming the role. It’s being seen as a key pick, especially with the financial year’s early planning stages underway.
Hours after the appointment, Sultania met Deputy Chief Minister Bhatti Vikramarka Mallu at Pragathi Bhavan—purely a courtesy visit, said sources, but a significant early gesture.
