Hyderabad: A shocking tragedy unfolded in Nizamapet village of Sangareddy district, where a 23-year-old mother allegedly killed her two young children before ending her own life.
Police identified the deceased as Premalatha, daughter of Busi Ramulu and Sayamma, who was married four years ago to Sangamesh of Damaracheruvu village. The couple had two daughters Dhanush, aged 3, and two-month-old Suryavamshi.
Children killed, mother found dead
Police said marital disputes had strained relations between the couple. On Thursday, Sangamesh reportedly left Premalatha at her parents’ home in Nizamapet. On Friday evening, when no one else was at home, she allegedly strangled her daughters and then died by suicide.
Family members discovered the bodies upon returning home and immediately alerted the police. Narayankhed Sub-Inspector Vidya Charan Reddy visited the scene and registered a case. He confirmed that preliminary evidence suggested the children were strangled before Premalatha took her own life.
Investigation underway
Police are probing the circumstances that led to the incident and said several doubts remain over the sequence of events. Shock and grief swept through the village, as residents questioned how a mother could be driven to such an extreme act.
