Hyderabad: Sanitary napkin vending machines will soon be set up at RTC bus stands in Mulugu and Hanumakonda, as part of a new agreement between the Telangana State Road Transport Corporation and Saheli, a voluntary organisation. The transport department confirmed the plan.
The initiative will later be expanded to cover bus depots across the state, including Husnabad and Hyderabad. The machines are aimed at supporting women passengers during menstrual emergencies, said the department.
On Friday, Women and Child Welfare Minister Seethakka and Transport Minister Ponnam Prabhakar jointly unveiled the official Saheli project poster. Seethakka said the machines would be made available through the Saheli organisation to provide women with access to essential sanitary napkins at bus stations. She said this would be especially useful during travel-related discomfort.
Transport Minister Ponnam Prabhakar said the installations are being carried out with his department’s support in coordination with Saheli.
