Hyderabad: A sanitation worker died in Hyderabad on Sunday morning after being hit by a tusker vehicle while on duty near the Liberty junction.
The victim, identified as Renuka, was a resident of Gudimalkapur and had worked with the Greater Hyderabad Municipal Corporation (GHMC) for 15 years. The incident occurred while she was crossing the road on her cleaning route between Basheer Bagh and Liberty.
According to police, a tusker vehicle coming from Basheer Bagh struck Renuka as she attempted to cross. She suffered a severe head injury. Fellow sanitation workers rushed her to a nearby private hospital, where doctors declared her brought dead.
Saifabad police took the vehicle driver, Gajanand, into custody and registered a case. Authorities sent the body to Osmania Hospital for postmortem examination.
The accident has raised concerns over worker safety during early morning sanitation operations on high-traffic roads.
