Hyderabad: Sanjay Kumar Srivastava, a senior officer of the Indian Railway Management Service (IRMS), assumed charge as General Manager of South Central Railway (SCR) on July 11, 2025. A 1988 batch Indian Railway Engineering Service (IRSE) officer, he brings with him deep experience in rail infrastructure, electrification, and urban transport.
Before this appointment, Srivastava was General Manager of the Central Organisation for Railway Electrification (CORE), where he spearheaded multiple technology-driven civil engineering initiatives. His leadership track includes notable stints at RDSO, RITES, and the Railway Board.
While serving as Principal Executive Director (Infra-1) at RDSO, he was closely involved in introducing advanced rail technologies including 60kg R350HT grade rails, multi-probe ultrasonic rail testing systems, and phased array USFD systems for Flash Butt welds. He collaborated with the M&C Directorate and Bhilai Steel Plant on key innovations.
Srivastava has held operational and engineering roles across Mumbai, Vadodara, and Bikaner divisions, including as Divisional Railway Manager. At RITES, as GM (Urban Transport), he made significant contributions to metro projects in Kolkata, Kochi, and Nagpur.
An alumnus of IIT Roorkee and IIT Delhi, he also holds an MBA from the University of Maryland, USA. His expertise spans engineering, project delivery, and administration. His appointment is expected to bolster South Central Railway’s infrastructure development and technological efficiency.
