Hyderabad: Satya Prakash, a senior officer from the 1988 batch of Indian Railways Service of Engineers (IRSE), took charge on Monday as Additional General Manager of South Central Railway. He assumed office at Rail Nilayam in Secunderabad.
Before this, he worked as Chief Administrative Officer (Construction) for the zone. He holds a degree in Civil Engineering from the Indian Institute of Technology, Delhi.
Prakash brings over three decades of experience to the post. In his 35-year career, he held top roles across several railway divisions. He served as Director (Vigilance) in the Railway Board, Project In-charge for IRCON in Malaysia, and Director (Track) at RDSO.
He started as an Assistant Engineer on Western Railway in Surendranagar. He later worked on North Central Railway.
Other key roles include Principal Chief Engineer at the Central Organisation for Railway Electrification (CORE) and Dean at the Indian Railways Institute of Civil Engineering (IRICEN), Pune.
Prakash received training at INSEAD in Singapore and ICLIF in Malaysia. While at CORE in Allahabad, he earned the Railway Minister’s Award.
He also authored three technical papers on long welded rails on girder bridges.
