Hyderabad: An SBI cashier in Mancherial district went missing after allegedly fleeing with ₹80 lakh in cash and gold worth ₹2 crore from a branch locker in Chennur town.
The incident occurred at SBI Chennur Branch-2, where cashier Narige Ravinder was responsible for handling daily operations. According to officials, he had retained the locker keys for the past month. On the day of the incident, Ravinder locked the branch from inside before disappearing with the money and gold.
Following the revelation of the irregularities, bank officials and police launched an investigation. Authorities confirmed that both the cashier and the branch manager were under scrutiny for their roles in the episode. Audit inspections were underway to determine the extent of the losses and procedural lapses.
