Hyderabad: The Telangana government told the Supreme Court that former IPS officer Prabhakar Rao, named A1 in the phone tapping case, was not cooperating with the probe and urged the court to cancel his interim bail.
SC adjourns Prabhakar Rao phone tapping case hearing to Oct 8
A bench led by Justice B.V. Nagarathna heard the matter on Monday. After listening to arguments from both sides, the court adjourned the case for two weeks and fixed the next hearing for October 8.
Senior advocate Siddharth Luthra, appearing for the Telangana government, said investigators had filed a status report. He alleged that Rao tampered with electronic gadgets and evidence, and refused to help in recovering data. Solicitor General Tushar Mehta added that Rao had formatted all devices before handing them over. He said even the government laptop given to him had been returned without data.
Rao’s counsel Sheshadri Naidu argued that his client had always appeared when summoned. He said Rao was cooperating with the court process and should not lose interim bail.
