Hyderabad: Union Coal and Mines Minister G Kishan Reddy on Wednesday said the coal sale policies adopted by Singareni Collieries Company Limited (SCCL) are ensuring transparency and supporting economic growth in Telangana.
Responding to a question by Dr Kadiyam Kavya in the Lok Sabha, Kishan Reddy said SCCL operates under major coal ministry frameworks, including the SHAKTI Policy (2017, revised 2025), the Non-Regulated Sector Linkage Auction Policy (2016, amended 2020), the New Coal Distribution Policy (2007, updated till 2022), and the Bridge Linkage Policy (2016).
He said these policies promote fair trade practices, improve ease of doing business, and guarantee equitable coal allocation to industries, including small and medium enterprises.
Kishan Reddy said the 2025 version of the SHAKTI Policy governs all new coal linkages for the power sector and aligns with market dynamics. He said the implementation of these policies has improved transparency in coal distribution, created jobs, and driven tax and royalty collections in Telangana.
He told the House that SCCL’s policy compliance has provided a stable coal supply to industries, reinforced Telangana’s coal economy, and played a key role in the state’s industrial development.
