Hyderabad: The South Central Railway (SCR) has announced large-scale cancellations and diversions of train services after heavy rains caused flooding on tracks in the Bhiknur–Talmadla and Akanapet–Medak sections of the Hyderabad Division. Officials said the measures were precautionary as continuous inflows from nearby streams made the stretches unsafe for train movement.
Full train cancellations
Several trains scheduled for August 28 and 29 were cancelled in full. These include:
* Train 17642 Narkher–Kacheguda
* Train 17057 CST Mumbai–Kacheguda
* Train 17636 Akola–Kacheguda
Officials said the cancellations were unavoidable as waterlogging continued on critical portions of the line.
Partial cancellations
Some trains were partially cancelled, particularly services operating between Nizamabad and Medak and from Medak to Kacheguda. SCR said services on these stretches would remain suspended until track safety was fully restored.
Train diversions
SCR also announced diversions to avoid the flood-hit sections. Train 17662 Nagarsol–Kacheguda, scheduled for August 28, was rerouted via Parbhani, Parli, Vikarabad, Secunderabad, and Kacheguda. Stoppages between Parbhani and Sitaphalmandi were skipped.
SCR advisory
Restoration teams have been deployed and efforts are ongoing to clear water and assess damage. SCR assured that real-time updates would be issued as the situation evolves. Passengers were advised to check updates before travel.
Officials said safety remained the top priority and requested cooperation from passengers during the disruption.
