Hyderabad: South Central Railway (SCR) has stepped up its monsoon readiness as heavy rains continue across the region. Officials stressed their priority was passenger safety and smooth train services.
General Manager Sanjay Kumar Srivastava chaired a review meeting at Rail Nilayam in Secunderabad. He assessed the zone’s ability to handle rain-related risks and gave strict directions to improve field response. “Every supervisor must act with urgency and precision,” he said.
SCR readies emergency stock and 24×7 monitoring
The meeting focused on flood-prone assets such as bridges, tunnels, and road under bridges. Officials were told to increase watch at control and disaster centres round the clock. Teams prepared emergency stock of sand, ballast, cement, boulders, and pipes for quick repair work.
Earlier in the day, the General Manager visited the Disaster Management Room. He viewed live feeds from vulnerable sites and asked teams to coordinate with state authorities for real-time updates. “Preparedness is not seasonal; it reflects operational discipline,” he noted.
Additional General Manager Satya Prakash and principal heads of departments joined the session. Divisional Railway Managers and Additional Divisional Railway Managers from all six divisions Vijayawada, Guntakal, Guntur, Secunderabad, Hyderabad, and Nanded took part through video conference.
