Hyderabad: A major mishap was narrowly avoided in the Mailardevpally area on Tuesday when a DCM truck loaded with old tyre scrap suddenly caught fire.
Locals noticed the flames and immediately alerted the fire department and police. Firefighters reached the scene and brought the blaze under control before it could spread further.
The scrap owner reported significant property damage due to the fire. However, thanks to the quick response from residents, a larger disaster was prevented. Thick smoke caused panic in the neighbourhood as flames rose from the vehicle.
Police have registered a case and launched an investigation. The cause of the fire is yet to be determined.
