Hyderabad: Telangana Minister Seethakka on Thursday assured full government support to families affected by heavy flooding in Kamareddy district. As the district in-charge, she visited the worst-hit areas and assessed the damage caused by overnight rains.
She toured the Housing Board and GR Colony localities, where floodwaters damaged a bridge and submerged homes. Seethakka spoke with affected residents, asked about their losses, and monitored water still flowing into homes. She also distributed food packets and fruits through the Shabbir Ali Foundation.
Govt monitoring situation, CM promised support to victims
Describing the flooding as “unexpected and painful,” Seethakka said torrential rains that began at midnight created chaos by dawn in Kamareddy and Ellareddy. She confirmed the deaths of a doctor and two others. Chief Minister Revanth Reddy, she added, had promised help to their families.
While the loss of property was extensive, Seethakka said it was fortunate that more lives weren’t lost. She urged residents to stay indoors unless necessary and follow safety instructions.
The minister said the government was holding daily reviews to coordinate relief and rescue work. Officials would soon begin assessing damage to homes, roads, and public infrastructure.
She was joined by government advisor Shabbir Ali, Zaheerabad MP Suresh Shetkar, District Collector Ashish Sangwan, SP Rajesh Chandra, and senior officers during her visit.
