Hyderabad: Seven people were critically injured when a domestic gas cylinder exploded at Asbestos Colony in Jagadgirigutta during the early hours of Wednesday. The impact of the blast brought down the house, leaving the family trapped under debris.
Locals rushed to the spot and alerted the police and fire services. Firefighters reached the scene promptly and managed to control the flames before they could spread to neighbouring houses.

The injured, all natives of Odisha, were pulled out of the rubble and shifted to Osmania General Hospital. Doctors said the condition of several victims remained critical. Police have registered a case and begun an investigation into the cause of the blast.
Eyewitnesses said the explosion was so powerful that nearby houses shook, causing panic among residents of the colony. Authorities have taken up relief operations and are examining the extent of property damage.
Officials said the accident highlighted recurring safety risks in congested urban colonies where cooking gas cylinders are often used in cramped and unsafe conditions. Residents have been urged to follow safety protocols while handling LPG cylinders.
