Hyderabad: Seven people were killed and several others injured when a mango-laden lorry overturned on the Reddipalle tank bund in Annamayya district. The accident occurred while the vehicle was headed to Railway Kodur.
Police said the victims were labourers hired to harvest mangoes. The lorry lost control and flipped, throwing the workers off and crushing some beneath the load. Locals and police rushed to the spot to assist the injured.
The severely wounded were shifted to a nearby hospital. The bodies of the deceased were sent for postmortem. A case has been registered, and an investigation is underway.
The overturned lorry was removed using a crane. Traffic, which had come to a halt on the narrow stretch, was restored after clearance.
