Hyderabad: Telangana Government Advisor Mohammed Ali Shabbir on Tuesday called on Congress workers to close ranks and back AICC president Mallikarjun Kharge’s upcoming Hyderabad meeting aimed at safeguarding the Constitution.
Shabbir Ali addressed a preparatory session at EVM Function Hall in Nizamabad town, gathering Congress leaders from the combined Nizamabad-Zahirabad Lok Sabha segments. District In-charge Minister D Seethakka and Zahirabad MP Suresh Shetkar attended as chief guests.
He told the meeting that the “Jai Bapu, Jai Bhim, Jai Samvidhan” campaign must be pursued with determination nationwide to defend constitutional values. Shabbir Ali said Congress was committed to uniting communities and protecting democratic structures, rejecting divisive politics.
He sharply criticised the BJP, accusing it of ignoring states not under its rule and trying to destabilise elected governments instead of improving welfare. He questioned why BJP leaders claimed credit for rice distribution schemes in Telangana while neglecting similar benefits in their own states.
Listing initiatives under the Revanth Reddy government, Shabbir Ali highlighted Rs 9,000 crore released to farmers in nine days through Rythu Bharosa, sanction of 4.5 lakh Indiramma houses, subsidised gas cylinders at Rs 500, free bus travel for women, loan waivers of up to two lakh for farmers, and 200 units of free power. He also cited the timely rollout of Kalyana Lakshmi, Shaadi Mubarak, Aarogyasri, and CMRF support.
He asked party workers to take these schemes door-to-door, reinforce the organisation, and prepare for the local body and village polls.
The meeting drew MLAs Sudarshan Reddy, Bhupathi Reddy, Lakshmi Kantha Rao, Madan Mohan Rao, Vedama Bajju, Sanjay Rao, Balamoori Venkat, Jeevan Reddy, Eravatri Anil, along with corporation heads, in-charges, and district presidents from across the area.
