Kamareddy: Veteran Congress leader and Advisor to Telangana Government Mohammed Ali Shabbir launched a scathing attack on the BJP-led Central government, accusing it of failing to respond decisively to national security threats and alleging that its actions are increasingly dictated by foreign pressure.
Speaking at a Congress meeting in Kamareddy on Thursday, Shabbir Ali tore into the Modi government’s silence following the recent terror attack in Pahalgam. “Innocents were killed, yet the Centre stayed mute. Even when we pledged full support under ‘Operation Sindoor’, there was no action,” he said.
The former minister didn’t mince words while accusing the government of backing down after a phone call from former US President Donald Trump. “Our soldiers are watching. What does it do to their morale when we retreat at the first sign of foreign pressure?” he asked.
Drawing a stark contrast, Shabbir evoked the legacy of Indira Gandhi, recalling how she defied international interference during the 1971 war and led India to a historic military victory. “That’s leadership. That’s the Congress tradition,” he said.
His remarks came during an extended meeting of the Congress party’s Kamareddy unit, attended by district in-charge Minister Jupally Krishna Rao, PCC observers, and local leaders.
Minister Krishna Rao echoed Shabbir’s sentiments, saying the Modi government squandered a chance to send a strong message during Operation Sindoor. “They failed to act against those who dishonoured our women. That silence spoke volumes,” he said, invoking deeply symbolic imagery.
The meeting doubled as a rallying call for party discipline and unity, with both leaders urging Congress workers to put aside internal differences and focus on the upcoming elections.
Also announced were new welfare measures, including 3,500 houses for Kamareddy and 10,000 per constituency under the state’s housing scheme. “Every poor family will get a roof—politics won’t decide eligibility,” Krishna Rao assured.
The event saw wide participation from grassroots leaders, mandal heads, and local office bearers, all of whom were urged to champion the ongoing ‘Jai Bapu, Jai Bhim, Jai Samvidhaan Abhiyaan’ as a movement for justice and constitutional values.
