Hyderabad: Congress Advisor Mohammad Ali Shabbir joined the Janahita Padayatra in Nizamabad and later led a high-impact welfare campaign in Kamareddy. The Shabbir Ali Padayatra signaled direct public outreach by the party across northern Telangana.
The yatra stretched from Alur to Armoor in the Armoor segment. Alongside Shabbir Ali, Meenakshi Natarajan, TPCC president Mahesh Kumar Goud, and Minister D Seethakka led the padayatra. They interacted with residents to assess real-life concerns.
According to Shabbir, Telangana stands out nationally for political inclusion of backward groups. He said Rahul Gandhi’s Bharat Jodo Yatra shaped Congress’s new public-first approach. Consequently, Janahita Padayatra builds on that model by engaging directly with the people.
“This isn’t symbolic. We walk because governance must begin with listening,” Shabbir said.
In Kamareddy, Shabbir distributed new ration cards and inaugurated ₹7 crore worth of infrastructure, including CC roads and drainage. Sites included Gosangi Colony, Indira Nagar, Harijanwada, and Bichkunda.
He stated that Congress had reactivated ration card issuance, which BRS froze for a decade. Since taking office, the government had cleared 93 lakh cards, covering nearly all eligible families.
Each person, he noted, now gets 6 kg of fine rice every month. “This initiative is a milestone in Indian welfare,” he added.
Shabbir announced that one crore women would gain ₹10 lakh insurance cover for health, accidents, and life. Moreover, women in SHGs would be financially empowered through new state schemes.
He also confirmed that a proposal for 42% BC reservations had already reached the President. As a result, local elections would reflect this new quota structure.
So far, Kamareddy has received 3,500 sanctioned Indiramma houses. Elsewhere, 51 lakh families across the state now benefit from 200 units of free monthly electricity.
“Our guarantees are not on paper. They are reaching homes,” he said.
