HYDERABAD: Telangana Government Advisor Mohammed Ali Shabbir on Monday took part in three major public programmes in Machareddy village of Kamareddy district, reinforcing his focus on social justice, food security, and farmers’ welfare.

As part of the Praja Palana outreach, Shabbir Ali oversaw the distribution of free fine rice to underprivileged families. Joined by government officials and local leaders, he personally handed over bags of rice to beneficiaries and later shared a meal with a Dalit family. Calling it a “deeply satisfying moment,” he said it felt like dining in his own home.

Fine Rice for the Poor

“This scheme delivers quality rice to families living below the poverty line. Over 80% of the beneficiaries are from Dalit, Adivasi, and minority communities,” he said. He praised the government’s allocation of ₹13,000 crore to distribute 30 lakh tonnes of fine rice, terming it a landmark move for food security in Telangana.

He emphasised strict transparency in rice distribution and warned of action against any official or dealer involved in irregularities. He also noted that the process of issuing new ration cards and registering eligible families is underway.

Kamareddy Additional Collector Victor, RDO, MRO, MPDO, Congress leaders, and other officials were present at the event.

‘Jai Bapu, Jai Bhim, Jai Samvidhan’

Earlier, Shabbir Ali launched the ‘Jai Bapu, Jai Bhim, Jai Samvidhan’ campaign with a Constitution Protection Padayatra in Machareddy. The walk concluded with a public meeting at Shabbir Ali Function Hall, attended by Kamareddy in-charge Kathi Venkataswamy and other Congress leaders.

Speaking at the meeting, Shabbir Ali said the padayatra was part of a nationwide Congress initiative in response to Union Home Minister Amit Shah’s remarks against Dr B.R. Ambedkar. “This movement is meant to expose the BJP and RSS’s continuous undermining of the Constitution,” he said.

The padayatra featured portraits of Gandhi, Ambedkar, and the Constitution, with campaigners visiting homes to promote constitutional values. “India can remain a democracy only if we defend the Constitution. The BJP seeks to replace it with Manusmriti-based ideology,” he alleged.

He called for peaceful resistance rooted in Gandhian principles and urged villagers to keep raising awareness. Pamphlets were distributed and a pledge to uphold Ambedkar’s ideals was taken by all participants.

Farmers’ Welfare in Focus

In a separate programme, Shabbir Ali inaugurated a paddy procurement centre at the Machareddy Agricultural Market Committee. Addressing a gathering of farmers, he urged them to sell their produce at government-run centres rather than fall victim to middlemen.

“The Congress government will procure every grain of paddy. A ₹500 bonus for fine rice varieties has already been announced,” he said. He directed officials to ensure smooth operations at the centres, including the adequate supply of gunny bags and other essentials.

“These procurement centres are for farmers’ benefit, and the government remains committed to their welfare,” he affirmed.
