Hyderabad: SHE Teams Hyderabad has intensified its enforcement measures to protect women and minors across the city, taking stringent action in a series of recent cases involving blackmail, harassment, and exploitation. The unit continues to act promptly on complaints, ensuring timely legal recourse and victim support.
In one instance, a 30-year-old private employee blackmailed a woman using intimate photos and videos secretly recorded in a hotel room. He demanded that she either meet him over calls, introduce another woman, or pay ₹1 lakh in cash. The victim instead approached SHE Teams, which apprehended the accused at his residence. Following his confession, a petty case was registered, and he was sentenced to three days of simple imprisonment.
In another case, a 34-year-old plumber from Begumpet was arrested for blackmailing a woman after recording a private celebration at her home. He used the video to coerce her into a physical relationship, threatening to circulate it online. SHE Teams arrested the accused, and he was sentenced to four days of imprisonment.
Meanwhile, a woman from the Secunderabad railway station area falsely alleged sexual assault by an unknown person. However, investigations revealed she was a habitual offender, known to target police officers by sending them obscene content after misusing their mobile phones. An FIR was registered against her for filing a false complaint and attempted extortion.
SHE Teams also booked a GHMC driver for making inappropriate gestures at women disposing garbage. He was caught in a decoy operation and sentenced to three days of imprisonment.
Three separate POCSO cases were registered at Chatrinaka, Jubilee Hills, and Madannapet police stations against individuals who manipulated minor girls under false promises of marriage. The accused were involved in sexual exploitation and blackmail. FIRs have been registered, and investigations are ongoing.
Additionally, 49 individuals were caught misbehaving with women in public places. Thirty of them were issued warnings and counselled in the presence of their family members. Two were convicted with two days of imprisonment and fined ₹50 each.
