Hyderabad: Two shepherds were robbed in Narayanpet district during the early hours of Wednesday after unknown assailants attacked them and forced them to hand over cash. The incident occurred near Venkatravupet village in Medak district, police said.
According to Narsapur police, the victims, Renipatla Narasimha and Bazar Ramappa relatives from Damargidda village in Narayanpet mandal were herding sheep and had reached Narsapur on Tuesday night.
Robbers posed as helpers headed to Medak
Around 3 a.m. on Wednesday, the two men were waiting at a local junction to travel towards Medak for work. A car approached from the Sangareddy side, and the occupants offered them a ride to Medak. Trusting them, the victims boarded the vehicle.
After a short distance, just past Venkatravupet in Kowdipally mandal, three men inside the car began assaulting them. The attackers threatened to kill them unless they handed over their money.
The robbers forcibly took ₹5,500 through phone-based transactions and another ₹1,500 in cash. After beating them, they pushed the victims out of the car and fled.
The shepherds later approached the Narsapur police and filed a complaint. A case has been registered, and investigation is underway, said Narsapur SI Ranjith Kumar.
