Shivashankar’s phone helped crack Kurnool bus accident case

Hyderabad: Police investigating the Kurnool bus accident made a breakthrough after tracing the phone of deceased biker Shivashankar to his friend in Rampalli.

Shivashankar had set out for Dhone on a two-wheeler along with his friend Erriswamy. The bike hit a divider near Chetlamallapuram, killing Shivashankar on the spot. Erriswamy, who sustained minor injuries, moved Shivashankar’s body to the roadside and took his mobile phone before returning to Rampalli.

On Friday, as part of the probe, police began searching for Shivashankar’s phone but could not locate it initially. Using the device’s number, they tracked it to Erriswamy in Rampalli. Upon questioning, he revealed key details that helped uncover the circumstances leading to the accident.

Following the revelation, police obtained CCTV footage from a petrol station. This footage provided crucial evidence that helped investigators fully reconstruct the chain of events.

The accident and the phone’s role in solving it underscored the importance of digital evidence. Shivashankar’s phone ultimately played a central role in cracking the case.
