Hyderabad: A couple from Avusalonipally village in Telangana’s Siddipet district died by suicide on Tuesday, reportedly due to family opposition to their relationship, police said.
According to local residents, 18-year-old Kalpana hanged herself at home while alone. In a separate but related incident, 21-year-old Shiva Kumar, also from the same village, went to the fields and was later found hanging from a tree.
Gouraram Police Station Sub-Inspector Karunakar Reddy said cases were registered based on complaints filed by the families. Investigations are ongoing.
Preliminary findings suggest the two were in a relationship and may have taken the step after their families reportedly opposed their marriage.
