Siddipet girl drowns

Hyderabad: A 12-year-old girl drowned in a pond at Danampally village in Siddipet district on Tuesday, while three others were rescued in time by a local farm worker, police said.

The girl, identified as Navya Sri, had gone to nearby fields with her relatives Nithya, Akshara, and Harshavardhan. While returning, the group stopped near a pond to take photographs. Navya Sri accidentally slipped and fell into the water.

The other three jumped in to save her, but were unable to manage on their own. A farm worker named Ganapathi, who was nearby, heard their cries and rushed to help. He entered the pond and managed to pull out all four.

However, Navya Sri could not be revived and was declared dead at the scene. The other three were taken to the government hospital in Siddipet for treatment.
