Hyderabad: Burglars targeted the Hanuman temple in Lakshmapur village under Shamirpet police limits late Sunday night, making away with silver utensils and other valuables.
Police said the theft occurred after midnight. Unidentified persons broke into the temple premises and looted silverware used in rituals, among other items.
The temple priest discovered the burglary on Monday morning and alerted locals. According to residents, similar thefts were reported in the Rama and Yellamma temples over the past ten days.
Repeated incidents have caused unease in the area. Locals have demanded tighter security around religious places.
Police have registered a case and launched an investigation.
