Hyderabad: Singareni Collieries Company Limited (SCCL) Chairman and Managing Director N. Balaram on Tuesday directed all departments to work in coordination to meet production targets, warning that indiscipline or negligence would not be tolerated.
He conducted a review with general managers of all areas from Singareni Bhavan, focusing on coal production and the progress of new projects. During the meeting, he emphasised that the company must improve coal quality and cut production costs in order to stay competitive in the sector.
Singareni CMD sets daily coal production target
Balaram set a fresh target of 1.8 lakh tonnes of coal production and 2.1 lakh tonnes of dispatches per day. He also directed the removal of 12.5 lakh cubic metres of overburden daily. Since heavy rains had affected open-cast output this year, he stressed the need to boost underground mine production.
Furthermore, he asked management to curb wasteful expenditure, ensure efficient use of machinery, and utilise the full eight-hour shifts of every employee for productivity. In addition, he urged faster execution of new projects.
New coal mines to add 20 million tonnes of capacity
On asset protection, he told the Estates department to adopt advanced technology and digitise records. At the same time, he directed immediate clearances for new projects, including the VK coal mine in Kothagudem and the JK opencast in Illandu.
Balaram said three new mines to be opened this year would add 10 million tonnes to SCCL’s annual capacity. Moreover, another 10 million tonnes would be added next year with additional projects. Therefore, he ordered daily reviews on the progress of permissions.
Directors L.V. Suryanarayana, K. Venkateshwarlu, Goutham Potru, M. Thirumalar Rao, ED (Coal Movement) B. Venkanna, GM (Coordination and Marketing) T. Srinivas, GM (CPP) A. Manohar, corporate GMs and all area GMs attended the meeting.
