Hyderabad: Singareni Collieries Company Limited (SCCL) Chairman and Managing Director N. Balaram received a prestigious award for his leadership in driving the company to record performance and major business expansion. The Asia Pacific HRM Congress honoured him as the “Best CMD in South India” in the category of outstanding corporate leaders.
Singareni CMD wins Asia Pacific HRM Congress award
Balaram accepted the award on Thursday evening at a national conference organised by the Asia Pacific HRM Congress in Bengaluru. Eastern Institute for Integrated Learning in Management (Kolkata) chairman and director Prof. R.P. Banerjee, along with Advantage Group founder Smriti Bhatt Deora, attended the event as chief guests.
Under his leadership, SCCL achieved strong financial growth by adopting financial engineering strategies. Moreover, he played a key role in launching the Naini coal block in Odisha, marking the company’s first mining project outside Telangana.
Expansion into new sectors
The company is also expanding into critical minerals and has therefore appointed two agencies to conduct detailed studies. In addition, SCCL secured licenses for gold and copper exploration in Karnataka. Furthermore, it signed agreements in Rajasthan for solar and thermal power projects.
As part of worker welfare initiatives, SCCL introduced accident insurance of ₹1 crore for every employee. In addition, Balaram personally led several environmental programs, including the plantation of more than 20,000 saplings.
Recognition for development and welfare
Organisers stated that the award recognised SCCL’s achievements in development, welfare, and CSR activities during the past year. Expressing happiness, Balaram said the honour belonged to the collective efforts of workers and officials. He further urged employees to continue working with dedication so that Singareni could emerge as a globally recognised company.
