Hyderabad: Former TSPSC chairman Prabhakar Rao has approached the Supreme Court alleging harassment by the Special Investigation Team (SIT) in the ongoing probe. He claimed that he is being repeatedly summoned and detained for hours at the SIT office without necessity, despite cooperating with the investigation.
In his petition, Rao said the frequent interrogation sessions amount to mental harassment, accusing officials of using the pretext of investigation to cause deliberate inconvenience.
The Supreme Court, which had earlier barred his arrest until August 5, has taken note of the petition. Meanwhile, SIT officials, who have already visited Delhi once in connection with the case, are reportedly strategising for the next round of legal proceedings on August 5.
The SIT remains firm on seeking Rao’s arrest, claiming he is withholding critical information. Officials argue that only custodial interrogation can bring out the complete truth. They also allege Rao has not been fully cooperative and insist that judicial custody is essential to move the case forward.
Rao maintains that he has extended full cooperation and accuses the SIT of targeting him without just cause.
