Hyderabad: The Special Investigation Team (SIT) probing the phone tapping case in Telangana has intensified its inquiry, recording fresh statements from political figures believed to have been under surveillance during the previous administration.
MLC Teenmaar Mallanna appeared before the SIT on July 17 at its Jubilee Hills office in Hyderabad, where his statement was formally recorded by a team led by ACP Venkata Giri. The deposition follows SIT notices issued to several political leaders identified as potential victims in the case.
The SIT is simultaneously questioning accused officials and gathering testimonies from those allegedly subjected to surveillance. The investigation stems from explosive allegations of widespread phone tapping by the earlier regime.
Statements have already been collected from TPCC chief Mahesh Kumar Goud, MLC Teenmaar Mallanna, and political activist Faheem Qureshi. SIT sources said additional summons are expected as the probe continues to unfold across multiple districts.
The case has sparked political uproar in the state, with opposition leaders alleging systematic abuse of surveillance tools for political ends under the former BRS-led government.
