Hyderabad: A six-year-old girl in Yakutpura, Hyderabad, narrowly escaped death on Thursday after she fell into an open manhole while walking to school.
The child was walking ahead of her mother and sister when she missed noticing the uncovered manhole on the busy road. She slipped inside, but her mother, who was right behind, immediately pulled her out, preventing a major tragedy.
Locals blame civic negligence
Residents expressed anger over the incident, blaming civic authorities for leaving manholes open on crowded roads. They said such negligence put lives, especially of children, at constant risk.
“On a busy stretch like this, how can officials leave a manhole uncovered? This is sheer negligence,” locals said, demanding immediate action from the municipal body.
