Hyderabad: A woman in Jadcherla filed a police complaint after discovering a snake hatchling inside a curry puff bought from a local bakery. The incident happened in Joukhinagar under the Jadcherla municipality. Srisaila, a resident, was returning home after dropping her children at school when she stopped at Sri Lakshmi Ayyangar Bakery, next to the Jadcherla police station. She purchased two egg puffs and two curry puffs at her children’s request.
Public anger after a snake in a curry puff
While eating at home, she cut open a curry puff and found the hatchling. Shocked, the family confronted the bakery owner. He dismissed the contamination as a “small mistake” that happens “many times” and allegedly tried to grab the puff from her. Srisaila instead carried it to the police station and lodged a formal complaint.
Police inspected the bakery and informed the food inspector. They registered a case. The incident caused panic in Jadcherla, with residents alleging unhygienic conditions in several bakeries. Locals demanded stricter food safety inspections, permanent closure of the bakery, and punishment for its owner.
