Hyderabad: Two software engineers were seriously injured in a road accident near Chityal on the Vijayawada–Hyderabad National Highway early Sunday. The mishap occurred when their car, travelling from Nandigama to Hyderabad, got trapped between two private buses.
The injured were identified as Gurre Josh Kumar and Challa Sriharsha. Josh Kumar, along with Payal Murali from Nandigama and Sriharsha from Kondapur, was heading to Hyderabad when the crash occurred. All three work for a software company.
Car crushed between two buses
According to police, the accident happened when a private bus in front of their car suddenly halted near a culvert at Chityal. The car also stopped, but another bus approaching from behind failed to brake in time and rammed into it. The impact crushed the car between the two buses.
Sriharsha suffered a severe head injury, while Josh Kumar received minor wounds.
Injured rescued and shifted to hospital
Local residents and police rushed to the spot and rescued the victims from the mangled vehicle. They were taken to Kamineni Hospital in Narketpally for treatment. Later, Sriharsha was shifted to Hyderabad due to the seriousness of his injuries.
Police registered a case and began investigating the circumstances that led to the collision.
