Hyderabad: A Somali student was stabbed near the IT corridor in Hyderabad late on July 8, triggering alarm among the foreign student community.
Ahmad (25) and Yunis Abdi Karim Hasan (22), both students from Somalia pursuing their BCA second year at a Himayatnagar college, were residing in Masab Tank.
The duo was travelling on a bike around 2 a.m. near IKEA when an argument broke out with a group of unidentified locals during a U-turn. In the ensuing altercation, one of the attackers stabbed Ahmad in the abdomen.
The accused fled the scene immediately. Ahmad, bleeding heavily, was rushed to Medicover Hospital nearby. Doctors performed surgery and said he is recovering.
Following a complaint from Yunis, Rayadurgam police registered a case. One suspect has been detained, while search operations are ongoing for three others.
Police teams are scanning CCTV footage across the IT corridor to trace the assailants. The suspects’ bike numbers were not visible, complicating identification.
