Hyderabad: South Zone Deputy Commissioner of Police (DCP) Smt. Sneha Mehra, IPS, on Friday chaired a coordination meeting with peace committee members to review preparations for the upcoming Ganesh festival and Milad-un-Nabi. The meeting was held at Sanjari Function Hall under Mirchowk Police Station limits.
Senior officials, community leaders attend
The meeting saw participation from senior police officers and community representatives. Additional DCP South Zone Sri Majeed, Central Peace Committee members Hafeez Muzafer and Khaja Abdul Moiz, and ACPs P. Chandrasekhar (Charminar), M. A. Jaweed (Falaknuma), Shyam Sunder (Mir Chowk), and Ch. Chandrasekhar (Chatrinaka) attended. Station House Officers (SHOs) from South Zone police stations and local peace committee members were also present.
Call for harmony and vigilance
In her address, DCP Sneha Mehra stressed the importance of cooperation between police and the community. She said, “Respect for one another, understanding, and cooperation are the pillars of a peaceful society.” She urged members to report any suspicious activities promptly and assured them of the police department’s full commitment to maintaining law and order.
She also cautioned the gathering against spreading or forwarding provocative posts on social media. “Be alert to communal propaganda and misinformation,” she said, advising citizens to work hand-in-hand with law enforcement for a secure atmosphere during the festivals.
Police focus on community safety
Officials said the meeting was part of ongoing efforts to strengthen coordination with community leaders to ensure smooth conduct of major religious events. The police also sought feedback from peace committee members on local concerns.
The South Zone police emphasised that such joint initiatives would build trust, enhance cooperation, and ensure safety for all communities during the festive season.
