Hyderabad: Telangana Assembly Speaker has begun trial on petitions against defected MLAs who left BRS to join Congress. As part of the process, the Speaker issued notices to six legislators and sought further details regarding their party switch.
The notices went to Jagtial MLA Sanjay, Banswada MLA Pocharam Srinivas Reddy, Bhadrachalam MLA Tellam Venkata Rao, Gadwal MLA Bandla Krishnamohan Reddy, Chevella MLA Kale Yadaiah, and Patancheru MLA Gudem Mahipal Reddy.
Speaker probes defected MLAs in the Telangana case
These MLAs had earlier responded to notices, but the BRS filed rejoinders through MLAs Jagadish Reddy, KP Vivekanand, and Chinta Prabhakar. They submitted replies to Assembly joint secretary Upender Reddy on Monday.
BRS leaders alleged that the ten MLAs who defected to Congress could not escape accountability. They claimed that defectors stood exposed before the public as “caught thieves.” They argued that if Chief Minister Revanth Reddy escaped with “bags,” others should not assume they could also avoid consequences.
The leaders warned that the MLAs might escape for now but would face court proceedings soon. They predicted by-elections in all defectors’ constituencies and declared that people would deliver a verdict ending their political future.
