HYDERABAD: During the ninth day of the Telangana Assembly’s budget sessions, discussions on various departmental allocations were underway. MLA Sunitha Lakshmareddy expressed distress over comments made by Speaker Gaddam Prasad Kumar during the previous day’s proceedings. Addressing the assembly, she stated that she had not overstepped any boundaries and found the Speaker’s remarks towards her to be hurtful. She requested that if the Speaker believed his comments were appropriate, they should remain on record; otherwise, they should be expunged.
In response, Speaker Gaddam Prasad Kumar expressed deep respect for Sunitha Lakshmareddy, highlighting that he has eight sisters and holds women in high regard. He clarified that his remarks were not directed personally at her but were a reaction to running commentaries from both sides during her speech. Acknowledging that his comments may have caused her discomfort, he formally withdrew them.
