Speaker to start hearings on BRS MLAs’ disqualification petitions after seeking Supreme Court extension
Hyderabad: Telangana Assembly Speaker Gaddam Prasad Kumar will begin hearings next week on the disqualification petitions against several BRS MLAs. His office sought two more months from the Supreme Court to complete the process.
The earlier three-month deadline set by the court ended on October 31. The Speaker said his office examined only four cases so far, which led to the request for extra time.
BRS MLAs disqualification hearing begins November 6
Prasad Kumar released a new hearing schedule on Tuesday. He will examine the petitions against MLAs Dr. Sanjay, Pocharam Srinivas Reddy, Tellam Venkatrao, and Arikepudi Gandhi on November 6, 7, 12, and 13.
He said petitioners will present their case first, followed by the respondents’ cross-examination. The Speaker plans to take up two cases each day to ensure faster hearings.
Prasad Kumar added that his office has completed all preparations for the hearings. He said the Assembly Secretariat will ensure a transparent process in line with court directions.
