Hyderabad: Telangana Assembly Speaker Gaddam Prasad Kumar on Thursday called for cooperation from all quarters, including media representatives, to ensure the smooth functioning of both Houses of the state legislature the Assembly and the Legislative Council.
He made the remarks during the first meeting of the newly constituted Telangana Legislative Media Advisory Committee, held in the Assembly’s Committee Hall. Council Chairman Gutta Sukhender Reddy, Minister for Legislative Affairs Duddila Sridhar Babu, Legislature Secretary Dr V. Narasimha Charyulu, Committee Chairman I. Reddy Srinivas Reddy, Co-Chairman Paripurna Chary and other members were present.
Prasad Kumar extended best wishes to the newly appointed chairman and members, stating that the committee has a vital role in upholding the dignity and priorities of the legislature in a democracy. He urged the committee and media to contribute actively beyond legislative sessions and ensure consistent attention to Assembly affairs.
Council Chairman Sukhender Reddy stressed the media’s key role in legislative transparency and noted that with both Houses soon operating from the same building, changes would be needed to support seamless coverage. He assured continuous support to the media committee.
Minister Sridhar Babu said the media advisory body was set up to formalise the media’s responsibilities in covering legislative proceedings. He promised government support for improving working conditions for journalists and said suggestions on accreditation and passes would be reviewed.
Committee Chairman I. Reddy Srinivas Reddy said efforts would be made to ensure access and facilities for all accredited journalists covering the proceedings.
