Hyderabad: The Department of Posts will revise Speed Post tariffs for documents from October 1, 2025. This marks the first revision in 13 years, with the last hike in October 2012. Officials said the update will help cover rising operational costs, sustain improvements, and fund new innovations.
Launched in 1986, Speed Post remains one of India’s most popular and trusted delivery services. It continues to compete with private courier firms. To strengthen its position, India Post has added new technology-driven features to boost security, transparency, and convenience.
New features introduced
Passengers will now benefit from OTP-based secure delivery, online booking and payment options, SMS alerts, real-time tracking, and user registration facilities.
Charges for premium services
India Post has launched two new paid options. Registration Service will provide addressee-specific secured delivery for both documents and parcels at ₹25 per item plus GST. OTP Delivery Service will release items only after confirmation of a one-time password, also at ₹25 per item plus GST.
Special discounts announced
Students will receive a 10% discount on Speed Post tariffs. New bulk customers will get a 5% discount.
Officials said the measures reflect India Post’s modernisation drive. “Speed Post continues to adapt to customer needs while reaffirming its role as the nation’s most reliable delivery partner,” the department stated.
