Hyderabad: Senior BRS leader and MLC Dr Sravan Dasoju on Sunday unleashed a blistering critique of Chief Minister Revanth Reddy, accusing him of gross indifference and arrogance in the aftermath of the Gulzar Houz fire tragedy that left 17 dead and many injured.
“While Hyderabad burns, the Chief Minister is busy with glamour shows,” Sravan said, calling it a “shameful display of apathy.” The fire, which broke out in the early hours near Charminar, exposed deep structural flaws in the building and triggered massive rescue efforts yet, Sravan noted, Revanth Reddy didn’t visit the scene or meet the affected families.
“He holds the portfolios of Municipal Administration and Home. But instead of acting, he chose to indulge in beauty contests and photo-ops,” Sravan lashed out. “Is this the Praja Palana he boasts of?”
Despite being in the city, barely 10 to 15 kilometres from the fire site, the Chief Minister showed no urgency, Sravan said. “While emergency workers risked their lives, the man trusted with power didn’t even turn up. That’s not negligence it’s cruelty.”
Drawing a contrast, Sravan praised Congress national president Mallikarjun Kharge for calling Revanth to inquire about relief steps. “If a leader in Delhi can care, what stopped the CM right here in Hyderabad?” he asked.
Sravan accused Revanth Reddy of trading humanity for vanity. “Power seems to have blinded him. He’s chasing cameras while families grieve and bodies burn,” he said. “This isn’t just an administrative lapse, it’s a collapse of conscience.”
“Telangana doesn’t need a showman. It needs a Chief Minister with a heart,” he concluded.
