HYDERABAD: The investigation into the phone tapping case continues, with media executive Sravan Rao, named as Accused No. 6 (A6), appearing once again before the Special Investigation Team (SIT) at the Jubilee Hills Police Station on Monday.
According to SIT allegations, Sravan Rao had directed the accused, Prabhakar Rao and Praneet Rao, on who should be placed under surveillance using the Special Intelligence Branch (SIB) as the operational hub. The SIT maintains that the duo executed his instructions without deviation.
Sravan Rao, who had fled abroad following the registration of the case, finally returned to Hyderabad on 29 March. After receiving SIT summons through his family members, he has now appeared for questioning on four separate occasions.
During Monday’s session, SIT officials began recovering data from two mobile phones submitted by Sravan Rao. Investigators are trying to ascertain under whose instructions the phone tapping was carried out and who the key figures behind the operation were.
Based on Sravan Rao’s testimony, there is a likelihood that SIT officials may issue notices to several political leaders and summon them for questioning in connection with the case.
