Hyderabad: IT and Industries Minister Duddilla Sridhar Babu on Tuesday welcomed the Supreme Court’s decision to hand over the Gattu Vaman Rao couple’s murder case to the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI). He said the order strengthens public trust in the judiciary.
Sridhar Babu said the case would reach closure only when the real culprits face punishment. He named senior leaders of the previous government among those who, he alleged, helped the killers. He accused the former BRS regime of showing “complete indifference” when advocate Vaman Rao and his wife were murdered in broad daylight in Manthani. Instead of conducting a fair probe, he said, they shielded the accused.
The Minister said the then government should have supported the grieving parents but instead blocked justice. He pointed out that civil society groups and the Congress party had repeatedly called for a CBI investigation. However, the administration at that time refused to act on those appeals.
Reaffirming his faith in the courts, Sridhar Babu said, “In the end, justice will prevail.”
