Hyderabad: IT and Industries Minister D. Sridhar Babu on Sunday stressed the need to promote medicinal plants for their role in public health, ecological balance, and boosting farmers’ income. He made the remarks while launching the “Aromatic and Medicinal Plants Plantation” at PVNR Medicinal Garden in Tolkata village.
Highlighting species like neem, tulsi, and ginger, Sridhar Babu said the government would support cultivation and awareness programmes linked to such plants. He described them as vital not only for healthcare but also for sustainable livelihoods in rural areas.
Congress legacy in irrigation and freedom struggles recalled
During the event, Sridhar Babu also reflected on the Congress party’s contributions to Telangana’s irrigation development. He cited the Pranahita–Chevella project as an example. He further urged the public to remember national leaders who contributed to Telangana’s liberation, including Swami Ramananda Tirtha and former Prime Minister P.V. Narasimha Rao.
