HYDERABAD: Minister Sridhar Babu on Wednesday asserted that there will be no compromise on law and order in Telangana, stating that many police personnel had laid down their lives to maintain peace. He made the remarks during a discussion on law and order in the Telangana Assembly’s budget session on March 26.
He said communal disturbances have no place in Telangana, and highlighted significant recoveries made in cyber crime cases. “Cyber crime police have refunded ₹185 crore to victims—this level of recovery is unprecedented,” he noted.
Recalling past practices, he alleged that earlier governments discouraged victims from filing complaints, whereas the current administration has demonstrated what friendly policing truly means. He announced the construction of the Young India Police School for children of police personnel in Manchirevula, Rangareddy district, promising education at international standards.
The Minister claimed that Telangana police now register cases freely, unlike during the previous BRS regime when cases were allegedly filed only on the instructions of party leaders. Referring to the murder of advocates in Manthani, he said the way police handled the case was observed by all.
He stated that QR codes have been installed at every police station, and additional posts have been sanctioned to strengthen the Telangana State Anti-Narcotics Bureau (TGNAB) for drug control. Sridhar Babu praised police use of technology for faster case resolution and emphasized that cyber security is a national concern requiring constant vigilance.
He added that special steps are being taken to avoid traffic issues, with plans to implement AI-based traffic monitoring. Additional traffic personnel have been appointed, and integration with Google Maps is being used to manage flow more effectively. “Compared to other metro cities, our traffic regulation is better,” he said.
The Minister also mentioned ongoing efforts to further strengthen SHE Teams and Bharosa centres to support women’s safety and justice.
