Hyderabad: Minister for IT and Industries Duddilla Sridhar Babu on Saturday launched a sharp attack on the Bharat Rashtra Samithi (BRS), questioning its sudden change in stance towards the Enforcement Directorate (ED), which the party had previously accused of bias and corruption.
Speaking to reporters, Sridhar Babu asked whether the BRS now viewed the ED as an impartial agency, despite its earlier criticism. “How can they now support the very agency that once booked a case against their own leader, K. Kavitha?” he said, referring to the ED’s investigation linked to the Delhi liquor policy.
He demanded a clear explanation from the BRS on whether they now endorse what they had earlier called politically motivated and baseless cases. The Minister accused BRS leaders of legitimising ED actions solely because they are now targeted at Congress figures.
The Congress leader said this shift in tone reveals a tacit alliance between the BRS and the BJP, claiming both parties are using investigative agencies to undermine the Congress’s momentum and demoralise its cadre.
Sridhar Babu recalled the creation of Telangana under Sonia Gandhi’s leadership and accused the BRS of running the State into economic distress through unconstitutional governance over the past decade. “They have no moral standing to criticise the Congress,” he asserted.
He said the people of Telangana are now experiencing a revival under the leadership of Chief Minister Revanth Reddy, adding that BRS leaders’ comments reflect their unease with the Congress government’s popularity.
Highlighting achievements under the Congress government, Sridhar Babu cited progress on infrastructure and industrial initiatives, including the Secunderabad–Shamirpet elevated corridor, the coach factory in Kazipet, and the National Investment and Manufacturing Zone (NIMZ) in Zaheerabad.
He concluded by stating that under Rahul Gandhi’s leadership, the Congress will continue defending democratic values and the Constitution.
