Hyderabad: A student was seriously injured after a transformer explosion near the SC hostel in Jagtial’s Darur camp on Thursday.
Himesh Chandra, a class 8 student residing in the hostel, was fetching clothes that were hanging on the building when the transformer beside it exploded. Sparks from the blast fell on him, causing severe burns.
The hostel staff acted swiftly and took the injured student to Jagtial Area Hospital. He was later shifted to a hospital in Karimnagar for specialised care.

The incident has caused widespread panic among the hostel’s residents. Students have expressed fear over the safety of the electrical infrastructure near the premises.
Hospital sources confirmed that the student remains under observation due to the seriousness of his injuries.
