Hyderabad: Sub-inspectors from the 2009 batch across Andhra Pradesh and Telangana have contributed ₹26 lakh to the family of a colleague who died on duty in a road accident.
The officer, M. Ashok, was serving as a sub-inspector when he died in the crash. His batchmates visited his family on Sunday to offer condolences and hand over the financial aid, said G. Srinivas Varma, Begumpet Circle Inspector and administrator of the batch welfare society.
In the same incident, constable Blesson Jeevan was also killed. His family received ₹5 lakh from the same group, Varma said.
The welfare society was formed in 2020 and includes over 1,100 members from the 2009 sub-inspector batch. So far, the society has disbursed ₹2 crore to police families from the same batch who have suffered loss or distress, he added.
